Seafoam
for Halo 5

November 2021 - December 2021 | Level Designer | Halo 5 Forge

Overview

Seafoam is a multiplayer Free-For-All / Team Deathmatch map for Halo 5, designed for an ideal player count of 4-8.

The goal of Seafoam was to whitebox a fun & compact combat arena that emulates the design of older Halo maps, with special attention towards engagement points & weapon sandbox balancing.

Development Role

Seafoam was created as a solo effort using 343's Halo 5: Forge map editor.
As the developer of Seafoam, I accomplished the following:
  • Performed research into existing Halo maps to gain insight into level structure & weapon placement
  • Created initial Prototypes and Whiteboxes for the level layout, moving through multiple major iterations
  • Ran playtesting of the Whiteboxed layout to find issues and gather player feedback from both casual and hardcore Halo fans
  • Made adjustments to routing, cover, and area connections to create a level that is compact & engaging but not restrictive in movement
  • Iterated upon weapon sandbox & "Power Weapon" placement to drive engagements towards key areas
